Farming teaches you a lot about patience, humility, and trusting the long game. But every now and then, the weather delivers a reminder that no matter how carefully we plan, nature still has the final say. Earlier this year, a round of heavy wind and soaking rain swept through the farm, and like so many farmers know all too well, it left its mark.

Wind can be especially tough on young plants. Tender stems bend or break, leaves tear, and seedlings that were standing proud the day before end up leaning sideways—or flattened completely. Rain brings its own set of challenges. Too much water at once can wash soil away, expose roots, or even uproot plants altogether. It’s frustrating, not because we expect perfect conditions, but because we’ve poured so much time and intention into getting those little plants started.

And sometimes, despite our best efforts, the damage is simply too much. That’s when replanting becomes part of the story.

Replanting isn’t a sign of failure—it’s part of the rhythm of farming. Gaps are filled, and we adjust our plans to give the next round of plants their best chance. It adds extra hours to an already full week, but it also brings a sense of renewal. There’s hope in starting over. There’s resilience in putting your hands back in the soil and saying, “Let’s try again.”

Every season brings its own challenges, and this kind of setback is never easy. But it’s also what makes the harvest—when it finally comes—feel so deeply earned. At Full Circle Farms, we do our best to roll with what the weather gives us, knowing that each replant is another step toward feeding our community with care, persistence, and heart.
