Today, we want to highlight our commitment to bringing the cleanest and freshest produce directly from our farm to your table. As produce farmers, we understand the importance of following food safety guidelines, and that’s why we invest time and resources into training and education.
🚜 Why Clean the Farm Cart?
You might wonder why it’s necessary to maintain clean farm equipment. Simply put, after spending time in the fields with cattle and manure, we want to ensure that our produce isn’t exposed to any contaminants. Cleanliness is key to food safety!
📚 Food Safety Training
I’ve personally completed the 8-hour Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) PSA Grower Training Course. This training is invaluable, whether or not your farm falls under regulatory requirements. We believe that every step we take toward food safety helps bring you the cleanest produce possible.

🔍 What Is FSMA?
The FSMA Produce Safety Rule provides essential guidelines to help growers understand produce safety and the best practices for growing it. It’s not just for large commercial operations; even smaller farms can, and should, implement these practices. The course covers:
- Introduction to Produce Safety
- Worker Health and Hygiene
- Managing Wildlife and Domestic Animals
- Agricultural Water and Its Importance
- Postharvest Handling and Sanitation
Our goal is to develop a comprehensive Farm Food Safety Plan that ensures every item we deliver is the best it can be!
💡Benefits of Training
By attending these courses, we gain critical knowledge on:
- Identifying microbial risks
- Implementing safety practices on the farm
- Developing a robust farm food safety plan
Upon completion of the training, participants receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO), which verifies that they’ve met vital food safety training requirements.
🌱 Produce Best Practices Training (PBPT)
For growers with lower sales, we also participate in the Produce Best Practices Training (PBPT). This Kentucky-specific, voluntary training covers basic food safety and is designed to ensure all produce sold at Farmers Markets meets rigorous safety standards.
In conclusion, whether through FSMA training or PBPT, our efforts are geared toward providing you with the highest quality produce. It’s not just a regulatory requirement; it’s a commitment we proudly uphold for you, our cherished community.
We encourage all growers and aspiring farmers to invest in their education and safety training—it’s essential for everyone involved in bringing food to your table.
