Every so often, we gather up old metal from around the farm—broken equipment, worn-out fencing, bits and pieces that have served their time—and haul it to the local recycling center. In the video below, you’ll see a quick look at that process: loading, delivering, and watching it all get weighed and sorted for a new life.
For us, it’s more than just clearing space in the barn. It’s about stewardship—taking care of what we’ve been given and finding ways to make sure nothing goes to waste. Every load of scrap we recycle keeps good materials in use and supports local businesses that do the hard work of turning it all back into something valuable.
On a farm, every resource matters. Whether it’s composting plant waste, rotating crops, or recycling metal, we’re always trying to close the loop and make the most of what’s already here. That’s what sustainability looks like for us—not big gestures, but everyday decisions that add up over time.
So, if you’ve got old metal lying around, don’t let it rust away. Take it in, recycle it, and give it another purpose. Just like the soil, good stewardship multiplies when we all do our part.
